I'm Lucas Allen. I live abroad, building and writing about software while I travel.

I've been naturally inclined towards problem solving since I was very young. I used to think that I would be working with the sciences, either applying them in a lab or in the field, or studying them as some kind of researcher. When it came down to choosing a single science however, I couldn't stick to any one of them. In the end I felt compelled to choose something more "pure" and chose to study mathematics and when that didn't work for me, I moved on to software.

I love building software. I love the tooling, the tangibility of raw logic and reasoning as it directly impacts reality with the help of computers. I think that if I were born in another, earlier age, I would have moved on to apply mathematics to carpentry just to work with my hands. There is little I enjoy more than sinking my teeth into a problem and coming out the other side with a beautiful solution.

Right now I'm based in Senegal, spending my free time playing boardgames, taking walks with my dog, and getting lost in a good book or video game. I'm open for freelance work, so if you have a project in mind please do not hesitate to reach out to me!
